For many people, making art is not always free of interruption. Sometimes the hiatus is just temporary, other times it can extend over a long period for reasons beyond the artist’s control.
Slidell artist, Keith Dellsperger, who was born in New Orleans and raised in Metairie, will tell you that his obligations to his family and children required more money than the art industry could produce.
For 28 years, he made a stable career in the plumbing industry even though his training in high school included studies at David School of Art in Metairie and later Delgado College as a major in Commercial Art with a minor emphasis in Fine Art.
He prepared himself well for what he hoped would be a long and successful career working in photographic restoration until he realized that his growing family necessitated a career change.
